Our SPCA gets involved with all aspects of animal welfare - Provides shelter for abandoned, unwanted and abused animals, promotes efficient adoption programmes, prosecutes animal abuse and crualty cases, manages a welfare hospital for the lower income group and addresses many schools on animal welfare.

Quality degree and non-degree training in environmental economics and policy; Excellence in research in the field of environmental economics and policy; Increased awareness among practitioner managers, planners and policy makers in public and private sectors of the role of environmental economics in optimal and sustainable exploitation and development of environmental resources; and Increased collaboration and exchange of experiences for cross-fertilisation, augmentation of capacity and reduced professional isolation of peer academics in participating regional universities.

This Department is the home of the social sciences of agriculture and rural areas: Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development.

Department DWAF	\| Technologies used
The sub-Directorate Forest Land Management was conceived for the purpose of administering long term lease agreements entered into between the Department and private companies involved in the business of plantation forestry. The main lease agreement allows for a transfer of a host of land related functions to private companies, sometimes referred to as tenants, for a period of seventy years.
